Among the most fascinating pieces of the permanent exhibition Mission Spatiale at the Cité des Sciences, don't miss the “Lunar Lantern”, a lunar habitat designed to be 3D printed directly on the Moon using regolith (Regolith is actual lunar dust that covers the Moon in several meters of thickness — estimated between 3 and 5 meters in the lunar seas, and up to 10 to 20 meters on the highlands.).

Imagined by the firm Search+ as part of ICON’s Olympus project, this lunar shield is a concentration of innovation, designed to host the first long-duration missions on the Moon’s surface.

You can also discover in the exhibition:
• A special Space edition of our EXO42;
• 3D-printed models of the future Gateway station;
• Interactive tactile lunar modules;
• A full-scale replica of the next space habitat;
• And an exhilarating immersive film.

Through this exhibition, 3D printing reveals itself as a strategic tool to build the future of human exploration. A visit not to be missed this summer, whether with family or fellow enthusiasts!

Thanks to the entire Universcience team, as well as the management of the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, and its wonderful exhibition and sponsorship teams.

Mission accomplished after nearly 2 years of collaboration. In partnership with CNES, with the collaboration of ESA – European Space Agency, the support of Richard Mille and Airbus, as well as the exhibition partners: Ariane Group, Foster + Partners, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Groupe AFNOR, INSA Toulouse, LEGO, Michelin, and Nikon.
