It seemed important to us to make a point at the end of the confinement and of 2 months Ultra Intensive for all. Here is a quick summary of the actions that VOLUMIC 3D has taken with its partners to actively fight against Covid 19
#PHASE OF RESISTANCE
From the beginning of this crisis, we were convinced of the relevance of 3D printing to contribute to the fight and to propose new and immediate answers in times of emergency. Our teams mobilized and were in direct contact with different organizations and health services.
The objective was to intervene and make available our 3d printing capacities, and those of our closest partners in order to bring realistic solutions to hospitals and care centers.
#RESEARCH PHASE
We have been working closely with health authorities and laboratories on 3D printed solutions to meet urgent life-saving needs for medical accessories and analytical equipment. The requests were numerous and we wanted to emphasize the approach and the validation of the medical support.
All of these projects took time, energy and commitment, but the first encouraging results came very quickly with leads on respirator equipment, back-up medical equipment and screening tools.
#THECOUNTERATTACK
Here are some of the biggest projects on which we have been able to intervene and offer our support:
- Thousands of COVID 3D screening samples
CERBALLIANCE Laboratories, VOLUMIC and LaFERME3D have joined forces to provide an unprecedented response to the problem of out-of-stock COVID-19 screening tests thanks to 3D printing.
In less than 72 hours, with the help of FERME3D‘s expertise (especially on the subjects of sealing and mass production), VOLUMIC succeeded in proposing a modeled and then 3D printed version of the specimens to Dr. RAIMONDI’s team from the CERBALLIANCEGroup. The group immediately launched the technical validation analyses which confirmed that this new material can replace the missing versions with the screening kits.
And this is how tens of thousands of cups were printed at the height of the crisis, which made it possible to carry out nearly a thousand additional daily tests on the French territory. The full article is available here
#WEAPONS OF WAR
It was a war against the virus that was launched thanks to 3D printing, with new types of weapons: 3D visors, 3D masks, 3D test tubes, 3D valves, propellers, etc. As a French manufacturer, we are very proud to have been able to participate in this national effort by mobilizing a maximum of human and material resources.

- RESPIRATORS: 3D printing of parts and provision of material for manufacturing emergency respirators.
- PROTECTIVE MASKS: 3D printing of protective masks

- ASEPSIES VISORS : Printing of hundreds of 3D Asepsis Visors for caregivers
Also developed in Monaco by MC-Clic, these great 3D visors are durable, sterilization resistant and validated for operating rooms.
- PRINTING THOUSANDS OF 3D RELIEF VISORS for caregivers and exposed personnel.

All these actions were carried out non-stop, in ultra small teams, and by respecting the safety instructions, at cost price.
